Located close to Campo de’ Fiori, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and allegedly the only square in Rome without a church, the Argot is a rather new bar that seems to have been there forever. The entrance is a small corner door without any visible sign: you have to ring the bell, climb down some stairs, chose between smoking and non-smoking room, and there you are: in a room with great sofas, fantastic music (something between soul and old school R&B), and really good drinks. Don’t stop at the cocktail menu: talk to the bartenders, Daniele in my case, and you’ll feel the passion and the craft that is in the place. To make an example: the house martini is served on the rocks with a home made cordial, and is really very good. Also, thanks to Daniele I discovered the Lucien Gaudin cocktail and the story behind it, and now it is one of my favourite drinks. All in all, the Argot is super recommended, and I will go back as soon as I can.
