The magic of the Civil Liberties, in Toronto, is that it is both ranked best bar in Canada and one of the most relaxed cocktail bars on the planet. A large and beautiful bar, old silent movies playing on the walls, a small stage for live music, nice industrial decor, no cocktail menu, and a cool crowd. And, most important, amazing drinks: my martini was ice cold, quite generous in quantity, and well designed on my preferences. Apparently, the three owner/bartenders took a grungy bar and rebuilt it with their own hands, creating what now is the late-night meeting place for the city bartenders: not bad! Classic martini rate: 7.
