Harvey’s Cocktail Bar, Madrid

Sometimes, when I am in a cocktail-friendly city like Madrid, I like to choose my bar not by looking at rankings and reviews, nor by asking friends and fellow barflies. I just open a (google) map, pick a bar that inspires me, and just try it. I did that with the Harvey’s cocktail bar, in the Chueca area, and now I have my favourite bar in town. The place just changed location, but feels like an old classic already: one floor underground, neon lights all around you, very good music, a very gentle bartender, and some superb drinks. I had a couple of Martinis, ice cold, crispy, bone-dry, and served with the humble touch that changes it all. Maybe it was because I was the first customer of the day (always a great feeling to enter in an empty bar where it is all about to start), maybe because I shared my drinks in the great company of one of the funniest and smarter friends I have, but be sure I will be back! Classic Martini rate: 9.
