Freccia Bar, Piumazzo, Italy

Piumazzo is a tiny village between Modena and Bologna: a church, a bunch of houses and fields all around. In such a place one would expect the typical countryside bar, in Italian “il bar di paese”, with a few old fellows sipping their Camparis or bianchetto (white wine). On the contrary, in Piumazzo something unusual happened: back in the 90s Ivano Guizzardi, called Freccia (arrow) for the speed in serving his customers, transformed this place into a central venue for good drinking and unusual partying (the legend says that once he literally created a beach in the centre of the village with a few tracks of sand…).

Stepping into Freccia Bar feels like entering a spatial-time capsule, as the walls adorned with vintage photographs and memorabilia collections, a fantastic bar, many small rooms and a large and confortable outdoor space. At the aperitivo time the atmosphere is relaxed, after dinner you’ll hardly find a table. Talking about cocktails, the place serves classics (my Martini was really good and – thanks God – very cold) and signature drinks, including an aged Negroni that will make you want to come back. In conclusion, if you happen to be travelling by car around Bologna, a detour to visit the Freccia Bar is fully recommended. Classic Martini rate: 8.

In conclusion, Freccia Bar in Piumazzo is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends history, culture, and the art of mixology. With its fascinating heritage and exceptional martini cocktails, this bar is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly memorable experience. So, raise your glass and toast to the timeless charm of Freccia Bar – a place where tradition and taste converge in perfect harmony.
